# How fast can I print PLA and PETG?

High-speed PLA, on a hotend that can melt it, is what the community uses past 300 mm/s. Volumetric flow is the real limit. Overture High Speed PLA lists a print speed up to 300 mm/s. The other ranked spools still do not list a print speed, and none of them list volumetric flow.

## When to use which material

Use a spool that is sold as high-speed [PLA](/material/pla) or high-speed [PLA+](/material/pla-plus) when the goal is speed. SUNLU High Speed PLA and eSUN ePLA+HS are those rows. Use high-speed [PETG](/material/petg) when the part needed PETG anyway. Bambu PLA Basic is the other name in the consensus, and its temperatures are not listed. Ordinary PLA setup, including the first layer, is still [the PLA failure guide](/answers/pla_print).

## Temperatures and settings

SUNLU High Speed PLA lists 190–230 °C and a bed of 50–70 °C. ePLA+HS lists 210–230 °C and 45–60 °C. SUNLU High Speed PETG lists 220–250 °C and 70–90 °C. None of them list mm/s or mm³/s. The community figure is more than 300 mm/s when the hotend flow allows it. If the extruder clicks or the surface goes matte from under-extrusion, the flow ceiling is already here. Lower the speed or raise temperature inside the listed nozzle range. Do not invent a flow cap.

## Failure modes

The speed slider outruns the melt zone. Corners bulge, layers separate, and the part looks dry. That is flow, not a bad high-speed brand. A wet spool makes it worse. Dry first if the filament pops. A profile copied from Bambu PLA Basic onto a spool with a real listed range should use the listed range, because PLA Basic’s range is blank here.

## Caveats

High-speed is a formulation plus a hotend, not a promise on the product page. This import cannot show the volumetric limit the consensus calls the real one. Elegoo RAPID PLA Plus exists and does not list temperatures, so it is not ranked ahead of rows that do.

## Where this sits in the catalog

[SUNLU](/brand/sunlu) holds both high-speed rows. [eSUN ePLA+HS](/brand/esun-3d/epla-plushs) is the datasheet row. [Bambu PLA Basic](/brand/bambu-lab/pla-basic) is the named spool with blank temperatures. [PLA Basic versus PolyLite PLA](/compare/bambu-lab-pla-basic-vs-polymaker-polylite-pla) shows that gap in a comparison. Printer maximum speeds are not fields on the [printer pages](/printer). Fit is still temperatures, enclosure, and nozzle alloy.

## Ranked filaments

| Rank | Filament | Nozzle | Bed | Price per kg |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | SUNLU High Speed PLA | 190–230 °C | 50–70 °C | Not listed |
| 2 | eSUN 3D ePLA+HS | 210–230 °C | 45–60 °C | Not listed |
| 3 | SUNLU High Speed PETG | 220–250 °C | 70–90 °C | Not listed |
| 4 | Bambu Lab PLA Basic | 190–230 °C | 35–45 °C | Not listed |

## What the community says

The consensus is that high-speed formulations, plus a hotend that can keep up, allow more than 300 mm/s, and that volumetric flow is the real limit. The products named are high-speed PLA and Bambu PLA Basic.
